The Schönbuchturm – Herrenberg’s new look-out tower on top of the Stellberg hill on the periphery of the nature park Schönbuch and currently the talk of the Stuttgart-Herrenberg region – was unquestionably a truly fascinating experience. Beginning with the arduous climb up the long, steep and winding road, what you really want to do when you get there is to go straight on into the wonderful woodland eatery Naturfreundehaus and tuck right in in to their delicious fare – for instance Schnitzel and potato salad. Instead we went straight on up to the third platform of the Schönbuch Tower thirty metres from the ground.
The best reward of all is the 360° panorama of the surrounding countryside where you can see practically all the way to Tübingen – and the Stuttgart TV tower in the north direction. So – visit this tower – it’s well worth the climb.
